Our Produce
All our cucumbers are NZ grown and not genetically modified! They are also available all year round, January to December.
Our telegraph cucumbers grown in our automated climate-controlled
glasshouses in Pukekohe, using effective and sustainable growing techniques which is our speciality. From growing in a melee of perlite, recycled rainwater. Furthermore, we are incorporating the leading edge of IPM; which minimises the spraying of pests.
Telegraph
Our House of Taste Telegraph cucumbers are one of the longest varieties of cucumbers, measuring between 10 inches to 18 inches (25cm to 40cm). At House of Taste, however, we endeavour not to exceed 14” in size, choosing to, especially in summer, focus on 11-, 12- and 14-inch fruit for a fresher taste. Our produce is dark green in colour, with their skin having shallow grooves running parallel along the length of the cucumber. This is a seedless variety with edible (non-tough, non-bitter) skin.
Fun Facts About Cucumbers
Our cucumbers are grown in New Zealand but...
Cucumbers originated in India. They are crisp and nutrient-rich and may refresh your body inside and out. 96 percent of the weight of a cucumber is water, which makes it good for hydrating yourself naturally!

In a technical sense, cucumbers are actually fruit, not vegetables; (fruits are parts of flowering plants that come from the ovary.) But we've become accustomed to thinking and referring to cucumbers as vegetables.

Cucumbers are scientifically known as Cucumis sativus and are a member of the same botanical family as the melons and squash like zucchini (courgette), watermelon and pumpkin. Cucumbers grow in a variety of shapes and sizes, from 1-inch-long gherkins to long greenhouse varieties reaching 16 inches or longer.

There are nearly 100 varieties of cucumbers, but they’re mainly classified in two categories: those eaten fresh (called slicing varieties) and small varieties cultivated for pickling.

They are versatile in the kitchen and can be eaten fresh or cooked and incorporated into all types of cuisine.
